Did you know that strong spelling skills can lead to better reading? Research shows that spelling and reading rely on similar knowledge, like the relationships between letters and sounds. So, great job to all of the students who studied for the Spelling Bee. They are developing an important skill at a young age!

In response to valuable feedback from a recent employee recruitment and retention survey, there's an exciting initiative underway at Snyder ISD. We're thrilled to introduce the Employee of the Month Award, allowing students, staff, and the community to recognize exceptional Snyder ISD employees.

Take a moment to reflect on remarkable individuals from any department or campus at Snyder ISD who consistently go above and beyond, making our schools a great place to learn and work.

Employee of the Month nominations are open until Sunday, April 28th, so don't miss the chance to nominate someone deserving. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, April 30th!

The winner will pick a prize from the Tiger Swag Store (coming soon!). We also welcome prizes from businesses interested in supporting this initiative. If your business would like to participate, please email vmorris@snyderisd.net.

It is always fun to visit the zoo! Mrs. Thamez and Mrs. Ceballos' 1st-grade dual language classes turned their classrooms into a zoo. The students researched different animals, wrote about their findings, and created dioramas depicting their habitats. They invited other classrooms and their families to visit their zoo and even made maps and helpful signage for the visitors. #snydertigers #duallanguage

During the afternoon route, the driver of Bus 11 overheard a student make a concerning statement to another student. They immediately informed the school resource officer and administration, and the bus stopped at the intermediate school. Two students were interviewed and exited the bus. Their parents were notified of the situation. The rest of the students are safe and on their way home.

Students, teachers, and families should report any possible threat or concern to the right authorities. We appreciate the students and the bus driver who reported the situation promptly, enabling the authorities to respond quickly.

How to Report a Concern
If you observe any suspicious activity or have any concerns, report them immediately to the school administration or the police. For non-urgent concerns, you may use the “See Something, Say Something” form, which you can find at www.snyderisd.net/safety.

Teaching, practicing, and reinforcing good habits is essential in elementary school. Snyder Primary School embraces the "7 Habits" to teach kids skills that will help them not just be successful students, but all-around great human beings!

Habit heroes are a way for teachers to recognize their students who have been following the seven habits throughout the week. When a student is nominated, they get a special leader buck, a leader stick, and they get to sign their name on the habit wall of fame. Ask your kids about the 7 Habits to learn more!

Mrs. Leija's Dual-language students paired up to read, reflect, and write about the contributions Martin Luther King Jr. made to our society. In the dual language program, students often work in pairs, each using a different colored pencil to show their work and formulate responses in both English and Spanish.
