March is Music in Our Schools Month! We believe music is an important part of a well-rounded education. Research shows that students’ critical thinking and creativity increase through exposure to music. Research also suggests that the mathematical abilities of children who participate in music lessons may be increased by studying music.
Who remembers learning to play a recorder in elementary school? Snyder Primary School is fortunate to have two music teachers, Mr. Castillo and Ms. Mills, committed to instilling a love for music early on. Third-grade students at Snyder Primary School recently began practicing with recorders. Recorders help young children understand music theory, practice creative thinking skills, and develop finger dexterity.
