SPRING BREAK INCLUDES BONUS A BONUS DAY! Spring break is on the calendar for March 9th-13th. Don't forget about the extra day off for students on March 6th. This will be a PD day for staff and faculty.

Snyder Primary are you ready to celebrate!? The SPS campus will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday by participating in Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2nd! Your librarians have already planned fun activities for our staff and students to celebrate! Put on your thinking caps and stop by the library and make your guess on how many goldfish you think are in the bowl! The closest guess will win a book, of course!! Other fun activities include playing pin the hat on the cat, fishing for red fish, blue fish, yellow fish, Dr. Seuss matching games and Dr. Seuss BINGO! Students are allowed to wear any Dr. Seuss items or red and white on Monday!

TEXAS READS ONE BOOK-SPONSORED BY SISD ACE will take place TONIGHT from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the SPS Cafetorium! Join SISD ACE and make reading fun during the district literacy night! The SISD ACE sponsored camping themed family night will consist of a chapter reading from the book "Lemonade Crimes," followed by some games and activities. Open to ALL ages!

SPS will be a "closed campus" to parents and visitors this week. We try to treat these two days like the real STAAR test, so students can get used to the atmosphere for those days. Snyder Primary Dual Language teachers were recognized for their commitment to Bilingualism and Biliteracy at the Achieving the Biliteracy Dream Conference Dual Language Conference today! The three-day conference is being held in Dallas. Pictured are Lupita Ceballos, Carolyn Torres, Dr. Leo Gomez, Erica Leija, and Yuliana Thamez. This is the first annual Conference on the Gómez & Gómez DLE Program! This is the 4th year of the Gomez & Gomez Dual Language Program at Snyder Primary. Congratulations to these dedicated educators!

Kindergarten--There will be two Kindergarten music performances this week. The first performance will be on tonight, February 18th. The classes of Jennings, Solis, Soliz, Stewart, and Miller will perform on this night. The second performance will be on Thursday, February 20th. The classes of Krueger/Alexander, Groves, Mercer, Griffith, Minyard, and Jackson will perform on this night. Both performances are at 7:00 in the evening.

Reminder! Monday, February 17th is a professional development day for staff and faculty. No school for the students! Tuesday, February 18th will begin the 5th six weeks.

Valentine's Day is coming up and love is in the air! Parents, we know you want to shower your students with gifts of adoration, however, please keep in mind deliveries will not be sent to your student in the classrooms. This becomes a distraction to the educational environment. Deliveries will be held in the office at each campus or other locations if necessary and will need to be retrieved by the student at the end of the day.

Snyder High School will host the annual Sweetheart Coronation on February 12th. The event is open to the public and will begin at 8:15 am. Guests are asked to arrive on time and use the Worsham Auditorium entrance.

Parents of incoming 9th-graders are encouraged to attend tonight's 6:00 pm P-Tech information meeting at SJHS CAFETORIUM. Attending this meeting will help you to assist your students in narrowing down their pathway and endorsements as they embark on their journey at Snyder High School. If you are unable to attend, please review the information provided on the website. You will find this information on the website under the parent tab. Good afternoon SISD staff and families, We are rapidly thawing out this afternoon; however, the National Weather Service predicts temperatures to be well below freezing tonight. Icy roads will most certainly be an issue tomorrow morning and the safety of our students and staff takes priority. Since Fridays are shortened instructional days, a late start isn't a reasonable option. Therefore, SISD will be closed tomorrow and will reopen on Monday, February 10th. At this time a decision has not been made about extra-curricular activities scheduled for Friday. Stay safe, get well, and we will see everyone on Monday.

Jan. 30th Community Meeting Clarification: Tonight's Meeting is a Potential Innovative Partner Presentations. An innovative partnership is an option we are exploring to assist SISD. Three companies have submitted applications and will present their ideas to the community. They will each speak for 30 minutes and will have a Q&A following. We look forward to you attendance.

Snyder Primary is excited to be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge this year! Students and staff are encouraging community members and businesses to come together and participate in The Great Kindness Challenge. Snyder Primary has selected the week of February 3rd-7th to participate in this event. The Great Kindness Challenge is a positive, proactive kindness initiative, reaching millions of students and families every year. This positive and uplifting program helps creates a culture of kindness in schools, communities, and the world. Using a 50-item checklist, schools and families are challenged to complete as many acts of kindness as possible. The School Edition is an annual one week challenge during the last week of January. The Family Edition is year-round. Schools and families may get involved by signing up at no cost at: www.greatkindnesschallenge.org. The Great Kindness Challenge is made possible by the generosity of our sponsors Toy Foundation, ViaSat, Mind Yeti, Nordson, TaTaTu, and McGraw-Hill.
